Friday night, our home school group had an art show where kids could display their art, and have it judged! It was a lot of fun! I entered a gourd that I made as well as a necklace(that I also made). My brother Jesse made a basket to enter in the show. As I was the only high-schooler to enter anything in those two divisions(jewelry, and woodwork), I had to be bumped down to the middle school group. (even then there was only like three or four entries) So, I had to compete against Jesse's basket, and I have to tell you that I was sure that he would beat me. His basket was one of the coolest I have ever seen him make! But, much to my surprise, when we walked over to the table with our entries, I had the blue ribbon! I was stunned! Jesse said that he wasn't surprised, but we all were so glad that he got second. In the jewelry division, I made second, and the earrings that beat my necklace were beautiful! They definitely earned their right to have first.
Well that was our very first art show, and I would have to say that it was one of the funnest things I have done! We all have ideas of what we are going to enter next year, and I think that Joe is going to make something too. :)

We had a kinda mix up with the ribbons; one of the girls there thought that it was hers. |

But the problem was solved! |

This is the sketch that won the 'Best over all' ribbon and prize.
It was drawn by a fifteen year old boy that we know, and who is
going to teach a drawing class this summer. |
How fun does that look! :) Congrats everyone! Everything looks really cool, and the necklace is really cool! :)
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so creative! That's really neat. Your gourds are so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, congrats, guys! And how cool to see you selling produce at the farmer's' market last weekend. I hope you keep it up. If you want me to send you pictures from it, let me know. I don't know if I have your email address. I posted them on my blog.
