The art show!!

Friday night, our home school group had an art show where kids could display their art, and have it judged! It was a lot of fun! I entered a gourd that I made as well as a necklace(that I also made). My brother Jesse made a basket to enter in the show. As I was the only high-schooler to enter anything in those two divisions(jewelry, and woodwork), I had to be bumped down to the middle school group. (even then there was only like three or four entries) So, I had to compete against Jesse's basket, and I have to tell you that I was sure that he would beat me. His basket was one of the coolest I have ever seen him make! But, much to my surprise, when we walked over to the table with our entries, I had the blue ribbon! I was stunned! Jesse said that he wasn't surprised, but we all were so glad that he got second. In the jewelry division, I made second, and the earrings that beat my necklace were beautiful! They definitely earned their right to have first.

Well that was our very first art show, and I would have to say that it was one of the funnest things I have done! We all have ideas of what we are going to enter next year, and I think that Joe is going to make something too. :)

We had a kinda mix up with the ribbons; one of the girls there thought that it was hers.

But the problem was solved!

This is the sketch that won the 'Best over all' ribbon and prize.
It was drawn by a fifteen year old boy that we know, and who is
going to teach a drawing class this summer.

  3. Wow, congrats, guys! And how cool to see you selling produce at the farmer's' market last weekend. I hope you keep it up. If you want me to send you pictures from it, let me know. I don't know if I have your email address. I posted them on my blog.
